ASUS has announced the ROG USB-BE92, a new USB adapter designed to deliver high-speed WiFi 7 connectivity. The adapter, compatible with Windows 10 and 11, utilizes the USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface and supports the latest WiFi 7 (802.11be) standard, along with older WiFi standards like 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax.
The ROG USB-BE92 offers tri-band operation, covering the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands. It boasts a maximum speed of 6,500 Mbps, achieved through a combination of link rates: up to 688 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band, 2,880 Mbps on the 5 GHz band, and 2,880 Mbps on the 6 GHz band. This translates to a significant speed increase compared to WiFi 6.
The adapter is equipped with dual internal antennas and supports MU-MIMO technology for improved signal reception and performance. Security features include WPA/WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise support (excluding AiMesh mode).
The ROG USB-BE92 joins a growing market of WiFi 7 USB adapters, including TP-Link's Archer TBE400UH and MSI's BE6500. ASUS has not yet released pricing or availability details, but the company indicates the adapter will be available later this year.
