Qualcomm SDA660 Review: High-Performance Octa-Core Processor for Advanced Multimedia Capabilities

Qualcomm's SDA660, also known as the SDM660, is a powerful system-on-a-chip designed for high performance, low power consumption, and advanced multimedia capabilities. This custom-built processor features a 64-bit octa-core Arm v8-compliant Kryo 260 CPU, arranged in two dual-clusters. The quad high-performance Kryo cores operate at 2.2 GHz, while the quad low-power Kryo cores operate at 1.8 GHz.

In addition to the powerful CPU, the SDA660 also boasts a Qualcomm Hexagon DSP with Hexagon Vector eXtensions (HVX) at an impressive 787 MHz, as well as a Qualcomm Adreno GPU 512 designed for 650 MHz. This allows for smooth, high-quality graphics and efficient processing of multimedia content.

The SDA660 supports dual-channel non-package-on-package (non-PoP) high-speed memory, including LPDDR4/4x SDRAM operating at 1866 MHz. Its display capabilities are equally impressive, supporting up to 2560 x 1600 resolution at 60 Hz and up to eight hardware layers. It also supports two 4-lane DSIs and three 4-lane CSIs or C-PHYs, allowing for versatile and flexible display configurations.

When it comes to video capabilities, the SDA660 can handle 4K Ultra HD resolution at 30 fps and is compatible with popular video formats such as HEVC Main 10, VP9, and H264. The dual 14-bit image signal processing (ISP) allows for up to 16+16 MP cameras or up to 24 MP with dual ISP, making it a great choice for high-quality and advanced photography.

The SDA660 also offers support for various storage options, including UFS 2.1 gear 3, eMMC 5.1, and SD 3.0. It is equipped with a USB 3.1 Type-C port with DisplayPort and USB 2.0 capabilities.

The specifications of the SDA660 are impressive, with a powerful CPU, DSP, and GPU, as well as support for a variety of wireless connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 4 and 5, Bluetooth 5.0, and satellite systems including QZSS, Galileo, and GPS.

In terms of longevity, the SDA660 comes with a 10-year longevity program, ensuring its performance and compatibility for years to come. With its small package size of 12.4 x 12.4 x 0.58 mm, it is also a space-efficient choice for a wide range of devices.

Overall, the SDA660 offers an excellent combination of high-performance processing, advanced multimedia capabilities, and versatile connectivity options, making it a top choice for a variety of devices that require powerful processing and efficient multimedia performance.
